NON TOXIC INTAGLIO
STEP BY STEP

Acrylic Etching Grounds - Photopolymer Film - Etching
by Henrik Bøegh

The programme, which lasts 60 minutes, is available in an English version for all video systems/and as DVS as well. The programme is accompanied by a 24-page compendium.

The programme illustrates and explains all the working processes in connection with making, applying and working in acrylic resists and photopolymer film. Furthermore, they demonstrate various etching methods based on ferric chloride (etching in tanks and  "Edinburgh Etch" and show examples of works made with the new techniques.

The booklet sums up all of the illustrated working processes step by step and lists the materials used. The booklet is the printmaker's memorandum during his work.

The programme consists of separate sections. It can be watched in its entirity, or one can use it in a more encyclopedic way by fast forwarding/or jumping to a given working process, e.g. lift grounds, and merely watch the 3-5 minutes relevant to the situation, after which one is able to perform the working process.

See the contents below.

„In a calm, clarified flow, the video demonstrates the non-toxic process step by step. The thorough division into sequences makes it easy to find one's way through the various techniques and, if needed, rewind. The enclosed compendium is a good supplement to the video and in itself a pedagogical tool that can stand alone. In our effort to disseminate and teach the new health- and environment- friendly working processes, we welcome this new set of tools."

Finn Naur Petersen (senior lecturer at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art), in BKF-Bladet, Aug. 2000.

This is a well compiled video that explains the non-toxic process and technique thoroughly and in detail. The Grafisk Eksperimentarium has worked hard to iron out most of the problems that past users have found with this process. This is the "must have" video for people who wish to take up this printmaking method."
Steve Hoskins in Printmaking Today spring 2001
